1. Who we are
Your Legal Team is a marketplace operated by JurisTechne Pty Ltd ("JurisTechne", "we", "us"), of UTS Building 3, Level 4, 15 Broadway, Ultimo NSW 2007. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
This policy explains what we collect when you use the site, how we treat information that appears in published court judgments, and the choices available to you.
2. What we collect
We collect only what the service needs to operate:
- Waitlist and enquiry details — your name, email address and anything you choose to tell us about your matter.
- Search activity — the areas of law, jurisdictions and filters used, so we can improve results. Searches are not linked to your identity unless you are signed in.
- Technical information — IP address, browser and device type, and pages visited, collected through server logs and analytics.
- Correspondence — messages you send us, including corrections requested by legal professionals about their profile.
We do not ask for, and ask that you do not send us, confidential documents or privileged material through this site.
3. Information from published judgments
Profiles of legal professionals are compiled from judgments published by Australian courts and tribunals. That material is already public. We extract the name of the professional, the court, the matter type, the orders made and the citation, and we link to the decision so it can be read in full.
We do not add commentary, ratings or predictions to that record, and we do not publish information about parties, witnesses or children that a court has suppressed, de-identified or made subject to a non-publication order. Where a judgment has been amended, restricted or removed by the court, our record follows it.
4. How we use information
- To operate search, comparisons and profile pages.
- To contact you about the waitlist, launch and features you asked about.
- To send judgment alerts about professionals you follow, where you have asked for them.
- To maintain security, prevent misuse and meet our legal obligations.
Where you choose to contact a legal professional through the platform, we pass the details you have given us to that professional so they can respond. We charge the professional a referral fee for that introduction, after their first ten referrals; the service is free to you and the fee does not affect who appears in your results or how they rank. We do not sell your information to anyone who has not been sent your enquiry at your direction.
5. When we disclose information
We disclose personal information only to service providers who help us run the platform (hosting, email delivery, analytics) under contracts that restrict their use of it, and where required by law or to protect someone's safety. We do not disclose your enquiry details to a legal professional unless you ask us to.
6. Where your data lives
Personal information and legal data are stored on Australian infrastructure and do not leave the jurisdiction. Access is limited to personnel who need it, logged, and protected by encryption in transit and at rest. If we ever need to use an overseas provider, we will update this policy before doing so.
7. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in, remember your search preferences and measure aggregate traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; sign-in and saved comparisons will not work without them.
8. Access, correction and disputes
You may ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time. We will respond within 30 days.
Legal professionals may request a correction to their profile. Because profiles are drawn from published decisions, we correct matching and attribution errors — a judgment wrongly attributed, a name confused with another practitioner, a missing appearance — but we do not remove or adjust the record of a decision itself. Where a correction is requested and declined, we note that a dispute was raised.
9. Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first and we will investigate. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
10. Changes to this policy
We will post any change to this policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes affecting how we use personal information will be notified by email to registered users before they take effect.
